THE EVERYDAY ATHLETE IS OUR COACHING PROGRAM, WHERE WE WORK WITH EVERYDAY ATHLETES TO OPTIMISE THEIR STRENGTH & CONDITIONING, SPORTS NUTRITION, AND PERFORMANCE PSYCHOLOGY, IN PURSUIT OF THEIR ATHLETIC GOALS AND SELF-DEVELOPMENT.

ABOUT ME

My name is Conor O’ Neill.

I’ve played sports my whole life.

Where I lived, we played whatever sport was on the TV.

When the golf was on, we built a mini-course.

When Wimbledon came around, we got the rackets out.

When World Cup fever hit, 5-a-side was a daily occurrence.

With my home GAA club, Crossmaglen Rangers, I was honoured to have been part of successful teams at underage and senior level.

Truth be told, I wasn’t very skilled.

But I loved training and playing.

As I got older, I started looking for extra performance-enhancing methods to make up for this.

That led me down the road of Performance Nutrition.

This new obsession would eventually lead me away from my budding engineering career, in pursuit of something more aligned with my interests and ambitions.

In the years that followed, I became qualified and built up a small bank of nutrition coaching clients.

As time went on, this inevitably led to another obsession in Strength & Conditioning.

Bringing the S&C element to my client work allowed me to take their progress to an even higher level.

In recent years, I’ve added another string to that bow by completing a Masters degree in Psychology.

In a similar way, Psychology has become an integral part of what I do.

This is how the concept of "The Everyday Athlete" came to be.

I believe this combination of Training, Nutrition, and Psychology, specifically for Everyday Athletes is unique, and needed.

These learnings have informed my own athletic pursuits, whether that be in pursuing endurance, strength, or physique improvements, or more generally wanting to become the best version of myself.

The most important thing I’ve learned is that the progress you make in pursuing your athletic goals transfers into pursuing progress in other areas of your life.

The habits, strategies, and thinking needed to improve your physique and performance also leads to improvements in your mentality, your work, and your relationships.

I’ve built The Everyday Athlete as my way of assisting others who consider themselves Everyday Athletes - whether they play a sport or not - on that journey.

The Everyday Athlete means a few things:

1️⃣ Firstly, ‘𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐝𝐚𝐲’ in the sense that we are not professional athletes, and in many cases, we don’t play sport at all.

BUT we consider ourselves athletes in our approach to our training, nutrition, and psychology nonetheless.

We steal the nutrition, training, and psychology strategies of elite athletes and apply them to our own goals as everyday athletes.

2️⃣ Secondly, we do something ‘𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐝𝐚𝐲’ that contributes to our goals.

This might be something big or it might be something small. It might even be taking a day completely off.

But it’s something.

This is an important part of our lives, and that is reflected in our everyday actions.

3️⃣ Thirdly, our ‘𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐝𝐚𝐲’ lives are improved by the strategies, insights, and knowledge gained from our athletic pursuits.

To name a few: discipline, planning, progress-tracking, motivation-management, problem-solving, perseverance, communication, habit creation, and many more.

This allows us to embody the ethos of the Everyday Athlete.

That is: Self-development through the pursuit of athletic goals.
